Its been just over a year since I started writing this column, and what a vast amount of events I have seen during this past 12 months!

Portsmouth has proven to have a thriving scene, despite many who say it often lacks the focus on arts like many other larger cities in the UK.

To kick start this weekend, prepare to bounce to the beats of 20 Hertz Events as resident DJs LA-TO and Refuzz go back to back from 7pm until 9pm at After Dark Sessions at Flip Out, Portsmouth.

Tomorrow, on Portsmouth’s house music front, Love Amplified will be hosting a big one as part of their Envy residency; they will be presenting Heidi as their headline DJ for the evening. Known for her fiery nature and enthusiasm for house and techno in her DJs sets, she runs her own record label Jackathon and has landed herself regular slots on BBC Radio 1.

She will be bringing plenty of bumping beats to Envy this Saturday. Supporting her will be Amplified Residents JAB, Latecomer and Soul Divide. Doors open from 10.30pm until 5am. Final release tickets cost £15. More information at facebook.com
