Portsmouth looks set for a busy weekend in its music scene, including established artists and up-and-comers!

First up this evening, fresh drum and bass promoters Surface return after smashing their successful debut launch event with Erb N Dub and MBlaze; they will be presenting a smorgasbord of Portsmouth-based drum and bass DJs with Surface and Friends at The Cueball Club, Fratton.

The line-up will see a massive, diverse variety of styles come together as DJs go back-to-back with each other including Havok vs Stubzy, Cbiz vs Dutte vs Sounds (with Mc Rivmik), Banksy vs Broken Beats (that’s me!), Elsta vs Kinglsey, Nooch vs DJ Zork and then solo sets from Disruption and Luke Loud. Doors open from 8.30pm until 1.30am and entry is only £3 on the door.

Be sure to tune into the warm-up radio show with DJ Catch on Qbase FM (94.7FM) from 7.30pm until 9.30pm. More details at facebook.comTonight over at Drift, Palmerston Road, Trash Arts hosts alternative rock band Kamikaze Test Pilots. The band look to bring plenty of energy to their set – they have previously supported the likes of Nick Oliveri from Queens of The Stone Age. Doors open 8pm until 3am, with Death Pop DJs from 11pm until 3am. Tickets are £4 in advance, £6 on the door. More details at facebook.comOn the house music front this weekend, Zeal Movement will be hosting an evening dedicated to the Amelia-Mae Foundation tomorrow evening at The Old Barn, Fratton. As usual Zeal will look to bring plenty of positive house vibes with the line-up consisting of Junior Gee, Tom Budden and Leon Windsor alongside Zeal residents Harley, As-One and Stanley Hood. All proceeds from the event will go to The Amelia Mae Foundation to raise awareness for the condition known as neuroblastoma.
