With Freshers' Week happening and everyone still hyped up from summer, expect this weekend to be a huge one!

Firstly, taking things out of the city, mighty Portsmouth-based drum and bass promoters OHM are hosting a showcase at Junk in Southampton for fresh record label 1985 Music with headline DJ Alix Perez. Alix has been one of the most prominent names in neurofunk drum and bass for the past decade and launched 1985 Music just a few months ago. Joining him will be Skeptical, Lynx and OHM Residents.

Doors open 10pm until 4am and advanced tickets cost £8. More details at facebook.comOn the house music front tonight, The MixMaster Collective will be hosting a hefty all-day takeover at The Shack, Albert Road from 3pm until 1am, bringing soulful house vibes all day.

The line-up includes DJs Voodoo Junky, Stu Bryan, Ham Rice, Lewis Collins, Lee Arthur and The Preacher. Entry is completely free and will be streamed live all day on Mix Master Radio. More details at facebook.comTomorrow, 20 Hertz Events will be launching House Till It Hertz at Jags 119, Elm Grove, with a plethora of cracking local house and techno DJs.

Liz Cornick headlines, presenting her usual disco and soul-fuelled tech-house grooves that landed her a set at the Isle of Wight Festival this year. Joining Liz will be techno partners JAB, George Normous, and Piramyd alongside 20 Hertz Residents LA-TO, Refuzz and DOP.ORE.
