To kick things off tonight, my own promotional organisation, The Renegade Project, proudly present our Good Friday Takeover with special guest Wheats at Shack Bar and Kitchen in Albert Road as part of a newly-founded DJ residency.

For those unaware of Wheats, he’s a fresh newcomer to the house music scene in Portsmouth and has already got himself signed to record labels such as Love Amplified and Daylight Robbery at just 18 – even DJing at Mutiny Festival last year!

Joining Wheats will The Renegade Project residents Broken Beats – myself, LA-TO and Flatline. Doors open from 8.30pm to 1.30am with free entry all evening; expect plenty of bumping house, disco and techno vibes! More information at facebook.com

Also on the free music front is the ever-popular It’s A Sin! tonight at The Wedgewood Rooms. It’s A Sin is a huge night playing the best pop, rock and indie anthems all the way from the ’70s to current hits – cheese and all! Doors from 10pm until 2am.

Special guests Melton John and Fortza will be also be joining It’s A Sin to present The Meltdown! in The Edge of The Wedge from 11pm until 2am and will be providing an energetic, multi-genre DJ set. More information for both at facebook.com

Sunday will see The Old Barn in Milton presenting their first birthday fiesta with the all-day InsideOut Festival. Headline DJs are Kry Wolf (Food Music) and Junior Gee (8Bit) alongside a huge roster of Portsmouth’s best local house and techno DJ talent. It all kicks off from 2pm with free entry until 5pm, entry is £5 after, and will end at 3am. It’s really great to see The Old Barn become such a hub for Portsmouth’s underground music scene, especially electronic music, and I wish the best for their expansion plans coming later this year.
