But with the help of CCADS’ creative director John-Paul McCrohon, a surprise presentation was arranged during one of those rehearsals at The Station Theatre on Hayling Island.

With her fellow cast around her, Lauren was visibly stunned by the surprise. And with her voice suffering because of illness she said: ‘I’m physically speechless, but thank you, that’s really lovely.’

‘Kerry (McCrohon, also starring in Chicago) was nominated as well, and the other people who were nominated were all amazing.’

Looking overwhelmed, she joked: ‘And I haven’t got any makeup on either!’
