The Guide Awards: Best Amateur Show winner, The King's Speech by CCADS at The Square Tower

Jonathan Fost, who played King George VI and Peter Colley who played the Archbishop of Canterbury in CCADS’ production of The King’s Speech, were at The Guide Awards show to perform a scene from the play as part of the entertainment.

They had no idea they were also winners.

Jonathan says: ‘I’m gobsmacked actually, we thought we were just performing here and now we've got to pick up an award, so we're a bit shocked at the moment.’

A lot of their CCADS colleagues were unable to attend as they were in dress rehearsal for Chicago, now on at The Station Theatre on Hayling Island.

But the pair said they hadn’t auditioned for the dance-heavy show.

‘I just don't think we're right for Chicago,’ laughs Jonathan. ‘I've seen what the gentlemen are wearing in that and it’s quite skimpy.’

‘And I’ve got two left feet,’ adds Peter.

Peter will next be appearing in CCADS’ production of The Browning Version at The Square Tower in March.
