A VIRTUAL festival will have vintage fans dancing in their kitchens as a cancelled event is making its way online to lift the community.

Taking place on June 27 and 28, The Nostalgia Show at Home will replace what would have been a weekend of vintage performances and fun at Stansted Park for the third year running, instead taking the performers and activities online.

On Saturday, June 27, a selection of music and entertainment will be accessible from the event’s Facebook page, and the following day will see a virtual fair taking place on Instagram.

Southsea resident Alex Cvijovic, one of the event organisers, said: ‘We decided to create a virtual version of our festival to uplift the local community and fans of the vintage scene, as we know it was disappointing for everyone that we had to postpone for 2020.

‘The Saturday will be non-stop including an 80s keep fit class, soothing jazz from Amy Baker, kitchen disco and eccentric song from dapper chap Thomas Benjamin Wild Esq.

‘We request everyone to dress up, crank up the volume and enjoy the festival at home.’

The physical festival is set to return in 2021, but the virtual event is set to feature as much of the fun as possible.

Singer Amy Baker, who is set to perform, said: 'It's wonderful that everyone can enjoy the festival at home.'

Alex and Lucy have also set up a crowdfunding page for their entertainers and to help with future shows, because the industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

The money raised will go towards helping artists through this uncertain time and to ensure the survival of the future of the festival, which will enable traders to rely on a future show and a potential source of income.

Alex said: ‘We would utterly love your support. Our industry has been entirely crushed by coronavirus, and none of us is certain when it will pick up again.’
