Chipper: my London Marathon triumph

Greetings Chipsters everywhere. On Sunday, I was subjected to one of the biggest challenges I've ever had in my life '“ I ran and completed the London Marathon.

I know what you’re thinking, dogs don’t usually run in these kinds of races, especially ones this big. But let’s face it, we all know I’m not your typical, average canine!

I must admit though, it wasn’t easy. Even though I had my family and friends cheering me on throughout the race, I got very tired and was worn out by the end. My hat comes off to anyone who does this sort of thing.

I started really well, but half-an-hour in and I had to slow down. Although I was ahead of a lot of people, it wasn’t possible for me to whizz around London at the same speed throughout the whole race.

My tactic was to sprint, jog, walk fast and repeat. It worked and eventually I ended up finishing in the top 50.

I panted my way to the finishing line where Brindley was cheering me on. He was holding a banner that said ‘Chipper is quicker than you’.

It did make me laugh as I am very competitive, but this was about raising money for a good cause – Cats Protection – not about beating everyone.

I managed to get lots of sponsors from people in my town, so I didn’t want to let anybody down and not complete the race. I’m glad I did and I will remember this achievement for the rest of my life.

This week, three of my Chipsters have won the latest prize in my brilliant competition.

Drum roll please...

And the winners are:

Alfie Essery (5156)

Daniel Goad (5132) and

Freya Elliot (5156)

Congratualtions to all three of you.

You have each won yourselves a Disney book.

I hope you enjoy reading it just as much as I did.

If you didn’t win this time around, it doesn’t matter.
