Dockies pictures capture Portsmouth's proud heritage

Stunning recreations by former dockie John Green of scenes at Portsmouth Dockyard are to go on show in the city.

John, who started work in Portsmouth Dockyard in 1956 aged just 15 and spent his entire 40-yearcareer there, is now a full-time artist and a member of Art Space Portsmouth.

During his time as a dockie, he kept detailed records of dockyard life in dozens of sketchbooks which he uses to make his paintings and prints.

The exhibition of his works runs at the Jack House Gallery in High Street Old Portsmouth from January 29 to March 5.
