Portsmouth gets set for zombie invasion!

A super scary zombie treat is about to make this Hallowe'en the most terrifying ever.

Crazed creeps will be taking over Portsmouth – leaving brave battlers to either stop them in their tracks, or run for their lives.

While it might all seem spine-chillingly real, it’s all good – if very scary – fun.

Virtual reality venue Centre VR has unveiled its most chilling game ever, just in time for run up to the spookiest night of the year.

The Brookhaven Experiment, a creepy tale of flesh-devouring zombies, is being billed as the ultimate scary Hallowe’en experience, which, thanks to appearing in super-realistic VR, leaves players feeling as if they’re right in the thick of the action. For those not familiar, virtual reality uses the very latest technology to immerses the player into another world creating the experience of being inside another reality or video game.

The sound is truly spatial and very impressive, adding to the immersion. You can see, hear and talk to your friends, so can truly share the experience.

You walk around, crouch, jump, duck in the virtual world and can interact with people and things within it, using the controllers provided. It’s nothing like a normal video game, at all. You have to try it to really “get” it.

Centre VR is only in Portsmouth for a limited time, and is going out with a real bang by saving its scariest game for last and giving brave Hallowe’en players the biggest fright yet.

“It’s one of the scariest things you can do,” says Colin Parnell, Managing Director of Centre VR.

“The Brookhaven Experiment isn’t like any other zombie game experience. There are some zombie attractions where you know it’s just an actor dressed up and pretending.”“But VR is different because your senses are tricked and it doesn’t kick in that’s it’s not real.”

“We’ve had groups of big grown men really screaming and scared in it.”Centre VR is located in Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, but it can be tricky to spot - it’s directly above the restaurant Tiger Tiger.

“No-one in the Europe has this number of headsets in one venue. We have more than 25 headsets available at a time; that means we can have many games running simultaneously.“It’s a truly unique - and terrifying - experience.” We do have other experiences on offer too, including Tower Tag, our laser quest style game of the future, and all sorts of other games and experiences. The Blue is one of our most popular, taking you to visit with a giant Blue Whale, and Google Earth in VR is breath-taking, allowing you to visit anywhere on planet earth."Centre VR Brookhaven Experience is available from Friday October 19th through until Wednesday, October 31. The venue is open until midnight on selected dates. For more information and to book tickets visit www.centrevr.co.uk or call 01202 372 372.
