Port Solent Comic Con 2026: Portsmouth Ghostbusters bring finale of their Mass Hysteria fundraising campaign for Cancer Research UK

A popular group of Ghostbusters cosplayers will be heading to Port Solent next month as they wrap up a year of fundraising for Cancer Research UK.

Portsmouth Ghostbusters attend numerous events across the south coast and fresh off of Portsmouth Comic Con, the group made up of volunteers have confirmed that they will be attending the Port Solent version on Saturday, June 6. The waterside event will be the culmination of the group’s Mass Hysteria 2026 fundraising campaign and they are looking to go out with a bang.

Andy Hornby, the group’s organiser said: “Port Solent has always been a brilliant place for events, and Comic Con gives us the perfect chance to bring families together, have some fun, and raise money for an amazing cause. This one is extra special for us because it is the finale of Mass Hysteria 2026, so we want to make it a proper celebration.

“We’ll have Ecto-1, Slimer, raffle prizes, photo opportunities and the first appearance of Leo-Buster, which we’re really excited about. It’s going to be a fun, colourful day and we hope lots of people come along, say hello, grab a photo and help us support Cancer Research UK.”

The new Leo-Buster is a cross over with another popular movie franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as the group adds it to their extensive Ghostbusters-themed entertainment.

On the day the group will be announcing and bringing together their fundraising total for the year, with raffle prizes, donations and activities helping to push the campaign as far as possible before the final total is confirmed.

Port Solent Comic Con is a free event taking place between 10am and 5pm. As well as Portsmouth Ghostbusters being in attendance there is a number of workshops and character appearances scheduled.

There is a Transformers takeover with Autobots and Decepticons hitting Ports Solent alongside features from other popular comic book and movie icons. This includes a Jurassic Park zone, a Lawn of the Dead craft workshop, celebrity signers Clem So and Nathan Pegler, Vader’s Quest workshop, and a GCPD Batman movie police car.

There will also be over 25 market stalls selling collectibles, artwork, toys, trading cards and more.
