Victorious 2026: The Streets' poetic lyricism shines in artful and epic performance

Mike Skinner dazzles at Victorious

While the crowd were already fully behind The Streets in their performance at Victorious, Mike Skinner writing ‘Play Up Pompey’ on stage cemented it.

In a thoughtful and artistic showcase, The Streets sent the crowd into raptures at the Common Stage on Sunday, August 30. Their unique style was on full show with the stage decked out in the bus shelter from the cover of their 2004 album ‘A Grand Don’t Come For Free’.

The set was almost choreographed allowing the wordsmith’s lyrics to be highlighted. Then came the ‘Play Up Pompey’ moment before heading in to popular hits such as ‘Fit but You Know It’.

After returning to the stage for an encore, Mike Skinner headed into the crowd to the delight of the fans as the heavens opened and the rain poured down.

It was certainly a performance that won’t be forgotten.
