Soak up the big event experience by choosing your challenge and taking on either the 5k or 10 mile route.

The 5k route is set to take place on Saturday 15th and is great for those not ready to run the 10 mile route, but who want to experience the big event day atmosphere.

The 10-mile route will take runners past Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Portsmouth Harbour and along Clarence Esplanade to the finish line. Expect views of iconic landmarks, entertainment zones at every mile and some of the best (and loudest!) crowd support. It’s expected to be a party from start to finish.

There are some great new additions to the event this year too. A live DJ will be on the start line to boost energy levels ahead of the run, timed pacers will be pumping out music around the course to help you hit your stride, and a new Apres Run zone with a Heart DJ truck waits for runners at the end.

Who said grown-ups should have all the fun?

The hugely popular Great South 2.5k Junior race for 9-15 year olds and the 1.5k Mini race for 3-8 year olds is also back on Saturday 15th October 2022.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the raising of the Mary Rose, the theme of this year’s Junior and Mini Great South Run is ‘Under the Sea’. A Henry VIII lookalike will be at the start line, joined by one of the original divers who helped raise the ship back in 1982.

All runners (big and small!) are being asked to come in “fan-sea” dress to help celebrate – think sequins and tentacles, fins and flippers. There will be prizes for the best fancy dress, so get your creative caps on!
