Unique boating event will mark 50 years

A UNIQUE boating event will see scores of vessels take to the water.

The Emsworth Cruising Association is holding the event on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.

The event, called ChiRaid, will call in on the best parts of the eastern part of Chichester harbour, including East Head and Thorney Channel, Itchenor, Bosham and Dell Quay.

Derek Ellinor, vice-commodore, from the association, said it has been designed to encourage more people to join in boating pursuits.

People are encouraged to bring their boats, under sail or oars, approximately 3m to 8m in length.

Harbour dues are payable and these can be purchased at The Harbour Offices in Itchenor or Emsworth.
