This major exhibition is the first to focus on John Piper’s textile designs, exploring key motifs in the artist’s work such as historic architecture, abstract and religious imagery, as well as subjects explored in the final years of the artist’s life. EMSWORTH: Emsworth Museum, 10B North Street, PO10 7DD. 10.30am-4.30pm. The History of the Emsworth Gas Holder. Built by Robert Dempster and Sons (Yorkshire), the Emsworth Gas Holder was transported in sections and erected in the early 1930s on the site of the old Gas and Coke Company. It has been an important part of the Emsworth skyline for over 80 years. This exhibition includes pictures of the construction of the gas holder and also the recent demolition. Admission is free.
