Fareham mayor attends topping-out ceremony at multimillion-pound Wallington Place care home
Fareham’s newest care home has marked its latest construction milestone – with VIP guests in attendance.

The Care UK team was joined by Mayor of Fareham Councillor Tina Ellis and the Mayor’s Consort, Councillor Robert Ellis for a special topping-out ceremony at Wallington Place, which is set to open next summer.

Cllr Tina Ellis laid the last tile on the roof of the building to signify the official completion of the external build. She then had the opportunity to meet the team to speak about the plans for the future of the home.
Cllr Tina Ellis said: “I’ve watched this building progressing over the past year with interest, so it was a real honour to be invited to the Topping Out at this purpose-built home overlooking Wallington. The aptly named Wallington Place fits with the existing architecture of High Street, but the planned modern facilities will no doubt be appreciated by residents, staff and visitors. I’m sure they will especially enjoy the views from the rooftop terrace, and I look forward to visiting the completed home early next year.”
Once complete, the multimillion-pound purpose-built care home will provide premium residential, dementia, nursing and respite care for 82 older people, with facilities including a cinema, hair and beauty salon and pub.
Justin Daley, development project manager at Care UK, said: “We’re thrilled to have reached this significant milestone in the construction of Wallington Place.
“The topping-out ceremony is a proud moment for everyone involved and brings us one step closer to opening the doors to what will be a beautifully designed care home.
“We want to thank the Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Tina Ellis, and the Mayor’s Consort, Councillor Robert Ellis, for coming along, and we can’t wait to give members of the community the grand tour once the home’s interior is complete!”
Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, Wallington Place will incorporate plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
