Golf day raises £20,000 for Great Ormand Street
Dandara Southern Counties this week presented a cheque for £20,000 to Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity in London.

The money was raised during the housebuilder’s annual golf day which was held on 23 September at Boundary Lakes Golf Club in Southampton. The event brought together Dandara employees and subcontractors from across the region for a day of friendly competition, on-course challenges and fundraising.
The impressive donation will help support Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH)’s vital work. Every day, over 750 seriously ill children and young people are seen at the world-leading hospital for life-changing treatment and care. GOSH Charity allows the hospital to provide care above and beyond what the NHS alone can provide.
The charity funds four main areas: child-centred medical facilities, cutting-edge equipment, groundbreaking research, patient and family support, including free home-from-home accommodation near the hospital. Every year, GOSH provides a place to stay for over 5,000 families, ensuring children can always have their mums, dads and carers close by.
Paul Ebbs, Dandara’s Divisional Managing Director, said: “We would like to thank everyone who attended the golf day and bid so generously in the charity auction. It’s fantastic that, by coming together for a great day of sport, such a significant amount has been raised for a charity which does such important work.”
For Dandara Southern Counties Land Director Sean Watson, the cause has personal significance, having experienced at first hand the exceptional care provided to his daughter by Great Ormond Street Hospital.
He said: “The incredible amount raised by our subcontractors and employees will make a huge difference to the children and families at GOSH, which holds a special place for me and my family.”
The fundraising team at GOSH Charity said that the donation is already helping transform young lives. Megan Newman at GOSH Charity said: “GOSH Charity helps to fund advanced medical equipment for treating the toughest conditions as well as support services that help make life in hospital as normal as possible for young children and their families. Donations like this are also helping the children of the future and could help fund pioneering research to find treatments and cures for rare and complex childhood illnesses. On behalf of the patients, families, and staff of Great Ormond Street Hospital, I would like to say thanks for the amazing support.”
With over £50,000 now raised through the event since it began five years ago, Dandara Southern Counties plans to continue its annual golf day as a fixture on the fundraising calendar.
