Pilot Brendan, engineer James, terminal supervisors Gee  and Poppy plus HR manager Terri took on the challenge on Sunday 6 September, swapping their usual working environments for harnesses and ropes to raise funds for the Island charity.

The money raised will help Mountbatten continue its vital work providing hospice, end-of-life and bereavement care to people and families across the Isle of Wight.

The team’s achievement reflects Hovertravel’s commitment to supporting its local community and the important work of charities that make a difference to Islanders’ lives.

Hovertravel is incredibly proud of Gee, Brendan, Poppy, Terri and James for taking on this challenge and raising such a fantastic amount for a worthwhile cause. Mountbatten provides an invaluable service to people and families across the Isle of Wight, often at some of the most difficult times in their lives, and the team is delighted to have contributed towards its work.

The company would also like to thank everyone who donated, shared the fundraising appeal and encouraged the team along the way. Every contribution helps Mountbatten continue providing compassionate, specialist care and support to local people when they need it most.

The team also had the opportunity to enjoy a unique perspective of Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent during their descent, with views of Hovertravel’s hovercraft operating between Southsea and Ryde.

Donations can still be made through the team’s JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/hovertravel
