New Portsmouth nursery calls on families to discover their warm, nurturing space

Parents and carers in Portsmouth are being invited to discover a newly expanded nursery setting at a Fratton-based Infant school. Little Thinkers nursery at Penbridge Infant School, on Lincoln Road, Fratton, are hosting a special Open Event on Saturday 18th July, from 2pm-4pm.

The recently developed space now caters for children aged between 9 months and 5 years, following significant funding by the Government’s School Based Nurseries Programme. Existing classroom spaces have been transformed into a bright, vibrant environment designed to support babies and toddlers to explore through play.

Families can now find out more about the nursery, meet the Little Thinkers team, and take part in activities tailored to showcase the setting’s approach to early years education.

Alison Hill, Manager of Little Thinkers nursery at Penbridge Infant School, expressed her excitement at sharing the transformation of their nursery space, and what makes it unique.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming families into Little Thinkers later this month so they can discover what makes our nursery special. We’ve got limited places available in our rooms and this Open Event is the perfect opportunity to see how your child’s learning journey could start with us.

“At Little Thinkers, we pride ourselves on providing a safe, nurturing environment filled with learning opportunities. We think big thoughts and provide wonderous experience to develop confidence, curiosity and resilience”.

Little Thinkers is a registered charity and small family of nurseries, which includes settings at New Horizons Primary School on Portchester Road in Copnor, and Meon Infant School on Shelford Road in Milton. They take pride in their motto ‘Lighting Up Learning’, which is rooted in their ‘curiosity approach’.

The charity also benefits as part of the Thinking Schools Academy Trust, a family of schools committed to self-reflective learning and the development of confident, resilient learners. The trust’s ‘all through educational vision’ has been expanded following the opening of the nursery, so young people in Portsmouth have access to high-quality education from early years up until secondary school.

Sonia Nickerson leads Little Thinkers across the trust and explained how Penbridge Infant School’s upcoming Open Event provides a great opportunity for parents to discover their ‘curiosity approach’.

“Opening this nursery at Penbridge Infant School earlier this year has been a really exciting step for the growth of Little Thinkers, and the expansion of high-quality early years provision in Portsmouth.

“Our team are united in their passion to create a community where families feel supported, where children feel valued and inspired and where key workers respond to their individual needs. I know starting nursery can seem daunting, but our team at Penbridge go above and beyond to ensure very child has a positive experience with us”.

The Open Event is free to attend, and families can just turn up between 2pm and 4pm. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions and provide tours of the setting.
