Portsmouth MP launches Christmas Card Competition for 2026
Stephen Morgan MP has launched this year’s Christmas Card Competition for school-aged children, encouraging donations towards the Parenting Network.

The theme of the competition this year is “Portsmouth Through the Pages” with the city MP encouraging children and young people to get creative with a mix of Christmas and Portsmouth’s literary history.
This theme has been chosen to celebrate the city’s past and coincide with Portsmouth100 celebrations taking place over the course of 2026 to mark the 100th anniversary since Portsmouth was officially granted city status.
All schools across Portsmouth South have been encouraged to take part. Entries should be sent to Mr Morgan’s office for judging. Those in home education are also encouraged to enter.
This year the deadline to submit entries is Wednesday 18th November.
The winning entry is featured as the design for Stephen’s official Christmas card. The card will be sent to hundreds of individuals and organisations across the constituency and country, with a copy sent to His Majesty the King.
The following guidelines have been given for all entries submitted:
Designs should be created on A4, A5, or A6 paper to allow resizing to A6 for printing
Bright colours are essential (entries using paint, collage, pen, or other bold materials are more likely to be selected over entries using pencils due as they reproduce better in print)
Clearly mark the name, class, year group, and school on the back of an entry
Mr Morgan said: “I am delighted to once again launch my annual Christmas card competition. Portsmouth’s young people set the highest standard of entries every year, so I look forward to seeing this year’s submissions.
“This year’s theme is Portsmouth Through the Pages and I’d encourage all children to as creative as they’d like and to add a little bit of Portsmouth’s literary history into the design.”
The Parenting Network is the chosen charity for the Christmas Card Competition this year. On this, the city MP added: “The Parenting Network are doing crucial work, supporting Portsmouth families through every stage of parenting, so I am delighted to encourage donations towards them this year as part of the competition”
The Parenting Network is providing free vital services to families across our community, to empower them and enrich their lives. It is offering a range of services, including engaging stay and play groups, school readiness programmes, fathers’ groups, and teen mum support.
