Analysis by digital marketing agency Koozai, which is based at Fareham Innoivation Centre in Lee-on-the-Solent, working alongside search intelligence specialists SISTRIX, has uncovered which destinations are attracting the most interest from people searching for flights from Southampton.

The findings show that flights from Southampton to Amsterdam generate an average of 870 Google searches every month, putting the Dutch capital ahead of Dublin and Paris.

Dublin follows with 680 monthly searches, while Paris attracts 160.

Alicante also features among the destinations examined, generating 110 searches each month.

Southampton travellers buck the national trend

While Paris is the most searched flight destination across the UK among the routes analysed, Southampton tells a different story.

Amsterdam takes first place, with Dublin also attracting considerably more interest than the French capital.

The findings place Southampton alongside several other regional departure markets, including Bristol, Glasgow, Newcastle, Cardiff and Norwich, where Amsterdam also outperforms Paris.

Researchers say the results demonstrate why national travel rankings do not always reflect what people are searching for locally.

What are Southampton's most searched flight destinations?

The leading destinations identified by the research are:

  1. Amsterdam – 870 average monthly searches

  2. Dublin – 680

  3. Paris – 160

  4. Alicante – 110

Sophie Roberts, managing director at Koozai, said: "Southampton is a particularly good example of why national travel rankings don't necessarily reflect local search behaviour.

"Amsterdam and Dublin are clearly ahead within the routes we analysed from Southampton, while Paris, Britain's biggest destination overall, sits much further down.

"Breaking search demand down by departure point gives a much more useful view of what individual regional markets are interested in."

The findings form part of Koozai and SISTRIX's UK Flight Demand Report 2026.

The research analysed thousands of flight-related Google searches to identify the destinations attracting the greatest interest from different parts of the UK.

The figures represent search interest rather than confirmed bookings or passenger numbers, but offer an insight into where Southampton travellers are looking to head next.

For those searching for flights from the city, Amsterdam appears to be the destination attracting the most attention.
