Horndean Technology College (HTC) was buzzing this morning with staff, students and their families coming together to celebrate another strong round of excellent summer exam results.  The overall GCSE pass rate (grades 9-4) nationally stands at 67.3% whereas at HTC it was 75%.

Horndean Technology College has seen consistent improvements in both attainment and progress over many years and still retains one of the broadest curriculums for students in the local area.  In addition to the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science, HTC provides a wide range of qualifications to meet all student interests enabling them to follow their passions both through the taught curriculum and within the extra-curricular setting.

Whilst today, Year 11 opened their envelopes to reveal the finale of five years’ hard work through their ambition, motivation and independence Year 10 also received their ‘Early Entry’ exam results for two Level 2 subjects.  HTC is committed to the belief that with the right support both academically and pastorally the students can be the ‘best version of themselves’, this year students have exceeded expectations, and we are immensely proud of them and wish them well for their future.

Headteacher Julie Summerfield said of the students’ attitude to learning: "Our students are supported by an exceptional team of teachers and support staff who are dedicated to our students’ success in every way.  At HTC we believe in working together with families and external providers to achieve the best possible outcomes for our young people.  When these partnerships are strong and flourish, it is exciting - young people excel and today, our exam results reflect this commitment from all parties.”

HTC received an excellent Ofsted Inspection in November 2024 confirming the College’s consistent highly effective approach in delivering high standards in all areas.  An establishment that is always pressing forwards with innovation, HTC is currently underway this summer with a significant refurbishment to more of its Science laboratories and Art Studios, to ensure that learners are able to benefit from state-of-the-art facilities to help them ‘achieve excellence’ and prepare for level 3 courses, apprenticeships and career paths.

Julie concluded: “As we see Year 11 head off to pastures new today, we do so happily, knowing that they are well-equipped not only with a set of excellent exam results for which they have all worked exceptionally hard, but they also carry with them a resilience toolkit containing important life skills which HTC helps them develop over five years, which will enable them to cope with an ever-changing world.  These skills carry equal weight to any exam certificates. We are delighted to see such happy, successful and resilient young people progress through HTC and wish them all the best for the future.”

HTC looks forward to welcoming a full cohort of new, enthusiastic Year 7’s again this September.  To see why more families are choosing HTC for their child’s secondary education please book a tour this Autumn using www.ticketsource.co.uk/htc-events or attend the HTC Open Evening this September. Visit their website at: www.horndeantc.hants.sch.uk
