Weekly ice bath sessions launched in Portsmouth to help recovery and mental health
United Minds and Sidekick Initiative are starting the weekly sessions
Ben Ash, known as Icebath Ben, will lead weekly Foundation Friday ice bath sessions with United Minds and Sidekick Initiative, starting tomorrow, Friday 16 October.
The sessions will take place every Friday at 6pm at Re-Up, 62c Havant Road, Cosham, PO6 2QS, costing £8 per person, per session.
Under the message “United in recovery and mental health”, the sessions will bring people together through shared activity, lived experience and real conversations.

Ben, 28, runs Ash Plastering Ltd and is a father of three — two girls and one boy — with another boy on the way. He marked 28days sober on 15th October and has made daily ice baths part of his own recovery routine.
He will now share that experience through Foundation Friday, helping create a regular opportunity for people to connect and build routine and support around their recovery.
Ben has already supported Sidekick Initiative’s awareness challenges, including joining founder Rob Prior for a 4am run during September’s endurance challenge. These weekly sessions give him a regular role in supporting others alongside United Minds and Sidekick Initiative.
Founded by Rob Prior, Sidekick Initiative draws on lived experience to support people facing difficulties with mental health, addiction and recovery. Its community activities include walks, fitness sessions and mentoring, with a focus on connection, structure and practical support.

Foundation Friday reflects that approach: giving people somewhere to turn up, meet others and take a positive step together.
