Care UK’s The Wickets, on Banister Road, Southampton, is inviting locals and their furry friends on Wednesday 26th August from 2pm–3.30pm to its own Crufts-like show.

Guests are encouraged to bring their dogs along to compete in the paw-tastic competition, as a panel of residents and relatives judge entries to find Southampton’s next canine superstar. Awards will be up for grabs in a range of fun categories including waggiest tail and best coat.

Free treats will be available for humans and pooches alike, including ice, cakes and doggy treats.

Pooja Dhoot, home manager at The Wickets, said: “Everyone is so excited for the dog show this year, and we expect to be welcoming many su-paw-stars into the care home!

“Many residents here have fond memories of childhood furry friends and relish the opportunity to share wonderful stories about them. Our dog show is going to be a hotly contested competition, with the community getting involved and challenging for best in show.

"Events like this are incredibly important because they bring people of all ages together and create meaningful connections within our community. We are looking forward to welcoming some new and familiar faces!”

The Wickets provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, the home incorporates plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair and beauty salon and pub.
