A TEACHER recruitment day is being held for professionals who want to take up the career.

Portsmouth City Council will hold the event on Saturday, June 11 at 1000 Lakeside North Harbour, off Western Road, from 10am to 12.30pm.

Portsmouth Teaching School Alliance, the council and partners will be there to give information about teaching opportunities at schools across the city.

On the day visitors can meet primary, secondary and special schools, plus post-16 providers.

Many of these will be seeking candidates to start in September 2016.

Councillor Neill Young, Tory education boss, said: ‘Following the success of our event in January, we’re hoping to attract teachers to come and work in our great city and help to inspire our next generation.

‘We’ve invested in our schools and are committed to raising the standard of education in the city.

‘Attracting high-calibre teachers to come and work in the city is an essential part of that vision.’
