Pompey will again turn to the transfer market in search of another potential No1 this summer.
It comes after Gavin Bazunu returned to parent club Manchester City following an impressive campaign between the sticks at Fratton Park.
The 20-year-old’s stock rose considerably during his season-long stay, catching the eye of Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A clubs in the process, which rules him out of a possible return to PO4 next term.
With highly-rated 18-year-old Toby Stewart likely to continue his development within the academy or out on loan next season, Pompey will once again return to the goalkeeping market for answers.
But who is a likely candidate to fill Bazunu’s considerable boots?
We’ve taken a look at nine keepers we feel the Blues could realistically choose as their next No1 or to compete with Bass next season.
The 21-year-old is claimed to be one of the most highly-rated players currently coming through the ranks at Spurs. He has outstanding handling and distribution attributes, while is a vocal presence in the box. It has since seen Roman manager Jose Mourinho take a look at the keeper, who is out of contract at the end of the season. Like Wollacott, the Northampton No1 was one of the standout keepers in League Two last term. He kept 21 clean sheets in 46 outings as the Cobblers missed out on promotion via the play-offs. A move elsewhere could also be on the cards, with the 27-year-old so far yet to sign a fresh deal at Sixfields. Photo: Pete Norton
The Hungarian youth international had a strong season between the sticks for the Hammers’ under-23's side and was recently awarded with a new three-year deal in January. Last term, the 19-year-old amassed 22 outings in Premier League 2, keeping five clean sheets. With the keeper proving his worth at youth level last season, a move to League One could be on the cards as he looks to take on his first loan move away. Like Slicker, Trafford also came through the ranks at the Etihad and has 16 appearances for England at youth level. The 19-year-old spent the second half of last term on loan at Bolton, where he kept nine clean sheets in 23 outings for Ian Evatt’s side. Similar to Bazunu, the academy graduate likes to act as a sweeper behind the defence, along with taking control of his penalty area. A return to League One next season appears likely with Bolton currently favourites for another loan move. Photo: Gareth Copley
