John Mousinho’s men once again came from behind, this time at Wigan, with a 2-1 success through goals from Regan Poole and Paddy Lane.
The Latics were reduced to 10 men in the 48th minute following Charlie Wyke’s straight red for a challenge on Marlon Pack, but it didn’t affect the scoreline and here are our Pompey player ratings...
5. Conor Shaughnessy - 8
Unfortunate not to claim his maiden Pompey goal, with Poole instead bundling it home. Undoubtedly the surprise hit of the season, was once again excellent in the air, composed at the back forms a very solid pairing with Poole. Immense in last 10 minutes. Photo: Jason Brown
6. Jack Sparkes - 7
Proving a good deputy for Connor Ogilvie. Whipped in a couple of dangerous crosses in the first half, yet largely focused on defending the left flank and did that very well to show he has both sides to his game. Photo: Jason Brown
7. Marlon Pack - 8
(Replaced by Christian Saydee on 61 minutes) Charlie Wyke saw red for his tackle on the skipper in the 48th minute and although he tried to carry on, he eventually had to come off. His cross from the right played a key role in the second goal and escaped a penalty appeal with the ball struck his arm as he attempted to head clear. Photo: Jason Brown
8. Joe Morrell - 8
Such a crucial player and, when Pack was forced off through injury, took on that responsibility as well alongside Robertson. Even in stoppage time was chasing past the halfway line to close players down. Don’t underestimate the Welshman’s worth. Photo: Jason Brown
