Business boost for boiler firm as it expands its services and becomes Hampshire Technical
Steve Simmonds, who set up Hampshire Boilers in 2017, said he was inspired to take the plunge and make the drastic change while work dried up during lockdown.
Instead of using the quiet spell to relax, Steve took the initiative and decided to capitalise on his dream of becoming a more all-round service company.

‘There were a lot of times when I would be at someone’s house fixing their boiler and they would ask me if I knew an electrician or a plumber so I thought why not just do it myself?
‘At the start of lockdown I had to suspend all work apart from emergency call-outs so it gave me the time to action what I wanted to do.’
Steve rebranded the firm Hampshire Technical – and will now undertake general plumbing, electrical work, installation of electric car charging points and renewables, alongside his existing gas and boiler services across the entire county, including Portsmouth.

Hide AdSteve said it was a hard decision to rebrand, as he had built up such a solid reputation through online reviews and word of mouth with his previous business name – something he hopes to do again with Hampshire Technical.
And he says he’s never been busier thanks to regulations changes meaning landlords are now required to have a valid electrical certificate every five years.
‘It has been great,’ he said.
‘It has been so busy, the first four weeks back at work after lockdown were chaotic but it has started to level out now.’
Steve encouraged people to use this time wisely.

He said: ‘We all know that there is a second wave coming, look at Europe. It is not long before that happens here and we end up locked down again.

‘While we are in this lull, it is a perfect opportunity to look at your boiler, or heating, or get any electrical work doing, as you don’t want to be facing winter in a lockdown with those types of problems in your house.’
