Married couple Zoe and James Marshall are preparing to launch fresh fish and shellfish merchant Sea-licious.

The shop, in West Street, is on course to open at the end of June, just a few days after the government has allowed non-essential shops to reopen. However, the main part of the business will be offering online ordering and free local delivery of fresh fish boxes.

Supporting local shops 'is more important than ever’

Zoe, 44, said: ‘Due to Covid-19 and with fish markets only just reopening we want to help local fishermen and the vulnerable, as well as those shielding in the community.

‘We want people to have the chance to have fresh fish delivered straight to their doors. People can book online and we will do remote drop-offs to people’s homes.

‘I have been married to a local commercial fisherman for 25 years who owns commercial fishing boats.

‘He will be sourcing fish from the Solent which will go straight to the shop before being delivered to houses or bought by people from the shop.’

Zoe is a registered fish buyer and buys straight from fishing boats as well as sourcing from fish markets.

She added: ‘The new shop will include a variety of fish including crab, salmon, sea bass, sole, scallops, plaice and skate.

‘It will also help local fishermen who won’t have to travel as far to get fish.
