New landlady hopes to breathe new life into closed Portsmouth pub the Milton Arms

NEW life is to be brought back to a closed city pub thanks to a new landlady.

Chrissy Sloan and Dan Smith have taken over the Milton Arms in Milton Road, Milton and have grand plans for it.

They are currently carrying out a major refurbishment.

Chrissy used to run the Red White and Blue in Fawcett Road, Southsea, before it shut in January.

She said she is hoping her punters will follow her to the Milton Arms.

Milton Arms pub closes as landlords move on

They plan to reopen at the end of October.

The previous landlords, Colin Nash and his wife Jayne, left the Ei-owned pub in July after taking on the lease in 2016.

The couple said that they had decided to close because of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

In a online post to announce the pub’s closure, they said: ‘It’s with a really heavy heart we have shut our doors for the last time.

‘(We) would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers old and new, our regulars, our football regulars and all the people who have held an event.

‘We have made friends for life here that’s for sure.

‘Unfortunately with the current situation it’s taken it’s toll and we can no longer do it.’
