Ear clinic in Portsmouth marks 10 years in business with its 20,000th ear wax patient

Just Ears treated Jeff Lane of Havant last week at its Portsmouth clinic and headquarters in Port Way, Port Solent.

The business set up its specialist ear microsuction clinics in 2011 to help people have access to a safe, effective way to remove built up ear wax and it now has 11 locations across the south coast.

With roughly 40,000 ears treated in this time, the team say they are delighted to have been able to help so many patients who have been suffering with the effects of blocked ears, mainly trouble hearing.

Director Philip Housden said: ‘This is a huge day for us and the whole team. Specialising in quality microsuction, has meant we can concentrate on ensuring we are offering the absolute best treatment and experience at our clinics without other services impacting on this. Our amazing team has been instrumental in this journey and we could not be prouder of what we have all achieved.’

GP practices are no longer able to offer ear syringing, and with long hospital waiting times, people are turning to microsuction as a quick and safe way to return their hearing to normal.

Microsuction use a tiny vacuum cleaner and a microscope to clean out built up ear wax quickly.

The use of a microscope allows magnification and illumination affording a superb view of the ear canal making it safer and more effective than ear syringing.

Mr Lane, the 20,000th patient, said: ‘I have been delighted with my treatment and to be able to hear again instantly, is amazing!

‘Despite the lockdown restrictions, I was extremely impressed with the Covid-safe measures they had in place to keep me safe.

‘I am so grateful for the service they offer as my job as a counsellor and a psychotherapist means I need to be able to hear.'

Just Ears Clinic is one of only a few private earwax removal services on the south coast to be regulated by the Care Quality Commission.
