Huge carrier ship MV Boldwind arrives in Portsmouth

A DECK carrier has sailed into Portsmouth International Port for the first time.

MV Boldwind made her maiden call into Portico Shipping yesterday.

The vessel is owned by the Hamburg-based German company United Wind Logistics (UWL) and came to the port in Portsmouth to collect wind turbine blades bound for Esbjerg, Denmark, they were made by MHI Vestas in Newport on the Isle of Wight

MV Boldwind has a length of 488ft and a beam of 91ft it has a deadweight of 10,000 tonnes and a gross tonnage of 8,604.

The ship was built at the Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard in China and was delivered to UWL in May of this year, with a second deck carrier to follow later in the year.

UWL also had the option for two further additional vessels.
