The shop – called La Mane – opened at the Greywell Shopping Centre in Leigh Park last month and Sue Donovan says she’s already seen a positive response from the locals.

Sue, 47, along with daughters Caz, 26, and Lauren, 25, all from Leigh Park, have transformed a former children’s clothing store into a salon, in which they will provide high quality, affordable hair extensions.

The three entrepreneurs have decided to take the leap from nursing into running their own business.

And Sue says she hopes that the opening of their small business will also encourage more commerce into the area.

Sue said, ‘It feels great that we are finally open.

‘This kind of business is really important to the community and so far we’ve had a really good, supportive response from the public.

‘We all came from nursing and did hair extensions on the side and one day my daughters turned around to me and said that it was finally time to do this full-time.’

Lauren said it was great to be working with her family.

She said: ‘It’s been great, lots of fun and very busy.

‘It is good to work with my family – what more could you want than to have your mum as your boss? She is my best friend, so it’s been great.’

The salon offers a free consultation and multiple, natural shades of extensions, including clip-ins ranging in lengths from 16 up to 22 inches long, with the most popular range being Remy Deluxe.

However, Sue said it’s not been easy – and the trio faced a delay in the opening as the shop waited to have the electricity connected.

The three women are the only employees at the moment, but they hope to grow as they get busier.
