KFC returns to Waterlooville with opening of new drive-thru restaurant

KFC has returned to Waterlooville

The new drive-thru KFC restaurant has opened in Waterlooville’s Waterloo Park - with the site’s Aldi supermarket also due to open next month.

The new 2,709sqft restaurant opened yesterday morning (October 26), with local fried chicken fans treated to a day of freebies and prizes. The first 200 customers through the door had the chance to get their hands on KFC’s iconic bucket hats, with customers alongside a spin-to-win wheel packed with prizes.

It features seating for 72 guests choosing to enjoy their KFC favourites in restaurant, with delivery and drive thru lanes. It is also among the first in the UK to showcase the latest KFC restaurant design and have a dedicated waiting area for delivery drivers

It’s opening brings KFC back to the town after the branch in Cowplain closed end of April 2024 and creates 40 new jobs.

The new Waterlooville restaurant will be operated by K&Z Holdings, a KFC franchise partner of 20 years. Since opening its first restaurant in 2006 in Hastings, K&Z Holdings has grown to 14 restaurants.

Its managing director Shahaz Nanji said: “Opening a new restaurant is always a special occasion for us, but this one feels particularly exciting as we celebrate 20 years of working with KFC. We’ve come a long way since opening our first restaurant and we’re incredibly proud to now be bringing KFC to Waterlooville. We’re proud to be creating jobs, building a brilliant local team and becoming a place the community can enjoy for years to come. We can't wait to get started!”

As part of KFC’s commitment to being a good neighbour in local communities, the team will take part in daily litter picks to keep the local community clean and tidy. KFC will also donate surplus food to local community kitchens through its partnership with The Felix Project.

KFC’s opening at Waterloo Park follows hot on the heels of Costa opening its new branch at the site off Elettra Avenue, and will soon be followed by the opening of Aldi on November 26.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: “Demand for new Aldi stores remains strong, and we’re pleased that shoppers in Waterlooville will soon be able to enjoy our high-quality products at low prices.

“Opening our new Waterlooville store is another big step in our growth plans. It will create local jobs and bring Aldi’s value to thousands more shoppers in the area.”
