The team at The Mansion at Coldeast have spent the past four months putting the finishing touches in place ahead of the official opening on October 6.

The building, which was built around 1840, has been upgraded with new additions such as outdoor seating pods which come equipped with LED lighting and heating, and its period features have been restored and enhanced.

Business partners Jason Parker and Daniel Byrne are behind the project.

Jason, who also co-owns Becketts in Southsea with his wife Soraya, said: ‘I am truly excited to be working again with Daniel who brings fantastic energy and people management skills to the project.

‘From the outset we had a very clear, shared dream for this locally listed and historically important property.

‘Put simply, there is nothing locally that can compare with what we will be offering at The Mansion. Every little detail has been thought out meticulously and implemented intentionally to give our guests the best possible experience.’

The venue will initially open during the daytime only from 8am until 6pm.

Indoors, there are three period dining rooms within the Becketts at The Mansion restaurant, which will provide a ‘Becketts experience with a twist’.

Head chef Mark Pilgrim and his team will serve up a range of breakfast and lunch dishes, including pancake stacks and open sandwiches, as well as Sunday roasts and their signature afternoon tea.

Outdoors, Becketts will provide alfresco dining on the terrace and the cabin lawn, with bistro style tables and picnic benches and a new garden cabin will serve drinks, cakes and informal bar-style food.

Jason added: ‘My wife Soraya and I are delighted to open our second Becketts restaurant which has been anxiously awaited by our many loyal customers.

‘It is a fabulous opportunity for us to really push a daytime offering within these wonderful architectural dining spaces and magnificent grounds.

‘We are beyond excited to start welcoming people through the doors and are looking forward to seeing where we can take The Mansion.’

The Mansion will open its evening dining service and 32 rooms, including studio and one bedroom apartment suites, in November.

Key members of the team have been employed with Tom Chapman as operations manager, Matt Liversedge as food and beverage manager and Demi Baker as hotel manager.
