Virgin Media will NOT be offering compensation for TV outage - here's why

Virgin Media customers were affected with residents reporting pixilated pictures blurring the screen.

The issue began mid-afternoon on Sunday and disrupted fans trying to watch the Six Nations clash between England and Ireland.

Customers were left unable to properly watch live TV for several hours, while online streaming services such as Netflix were still available.

However despite this, Virgin Media have told The News that they will not be offering any compensation to customers affected by the issue.

A spokesman for the company said: ‘Firstly, we apologise again for the inconvenience caused to our customers.

‘The issue was resolved within a few hours yesterday and, as a result, we do not have any plans to offer compensation.’

Virgin TV has been restored across the Portsmouth area following the issue on Sunday.

A total of five areas across the UK were affected including Southampton and Poole on the south coast.
