Mr Harrison said: ‘It was a delight to welcome so many students to Crofton School today to collect their GCSE results. After so much debate and change in the last few days, today is about celebrating hard working young people who are now able to progress to the next phase of their lives in education, employment or training.

‘We are so proud of all our students. It has been a privilege to share their five year journey through Crofton. Whilst the grades they received today are important, they have achieved so much more than this as they develop into such kind, ambitious and diligent young people.’

Mr Harrison also commended pupils on how they had dealt with the adversity and disruption of lockdown.

He added: ‘Their final year in particular has presented so many unique challenges for them and it is to their credit that they have shown such resilience in coming through this and achieving the grades they deserve.

‘We are so grateful for the support staff and families have provided to enable them to achieve so well.’
