Crookhorn College and Mayfield School headteachers celebrate students' achievements

Crookhorn headteacher, Sarah Bennett, said she was pleased the government had decided to use teachers’ predicted grades and highlighted the ‘outstanding personal achievements for many of our students’.

Mrs Bennett added: ‘The grades our students achieved are a testament to the hard work and commitment that they have shown to their learning during the course of Year 10 and 11.

‘Right up to the beginning of March, none of us could have foreseen the circumstances by which the school year would have ended but the grades show the commitment and exemplary attitude to learning our students have learnt to demonstrate throughout their time at Crookhorn.’

Mayfield School headteacher, David Jeapes, was also keen to celebrate his student’s achievements.

Mr Jeapes said: ‘We are pleased to report another steady rise in our results for this year across all subject areas. In particular we have seen another increase in the number of pupils attaining the top GCSE grades of 7, 8 and 9. A particular area of strength remains our performing arts faculty including dance, drama and music where pupils secured a significant number of the top grades. Equally, our science department have also built upon last year’s success.’
