Hampshire County Council’s pledge to create Kickstart job placements for young people
With young peoples’ employment prospects having been hardest hit during the pandemic the scheme provides employers with funding to create job placements for 16 to 24 year olds to learn new skills while in employment.
The Council’s executive member for education and skills, Councillor Roz Chadd, said: ‘We recognise the impact that Covid-19 has had on the local economy and local businesses, causing job losses. It’s why we have established an Employment and Skills Strategy, to boost employment and apprenticeships in the county – a strategy which is designed to build on and complement national initiatives like Kickstart.

Young people will be supported with work-related training and helped to develop their employability skills while receiving the National Minimum Wage.
The six-month 25 hours per week job placements will commence in November and the Council will run the scheme until June 2022.
