Portsmouth High School girls raise nearly £10,000 for homeless

STUDENTS from a city school have raised almost £10,000 to help the homeless.

Led by head girl, Chloe Wildsmith, 18, pupils from Portsmouth High School raised £9,718 for their chosen charity, The Society of St James.

The charity provides homeless people in Hampshire with support to overcome their personal problems to ‘enjoy a positive and rewarding life again’.

The girls raised the money during through a combination of events including a fashion show, sleep out and a netball match against Portsmouth Grammar School’s rugby team.

Chloe, who made the announcement in an online assembly, said: ‘We were so pleased to raise this amount as The Society of St James is such an amazing charity in our local area.‘

‘We all worked so hard to put on a set of successful events throughout the year and our motivation was always to raise as much money as we could for a worthy cause.’
