Remembrance Day 2018: Infants School pays tributeÂ

Pupils, parents and staff of Manor Infant School in Fratton designed an exhibition to teach children the significance of Remembrance Day.

With this year's Armistice Day marking a century since the end of the First World War, schools across the area are keen to highlight the importance of this year's proceedings and Manor Infant is no different.

Headteacher Ashley Howard was overwhelmed with the community involvement.

'˜Every family contributed towards the exhibition, with a variety of poppies being designed,' he said.

Mr Howard, who came up with the idea alongside his colleagues, said that his aim was to teach the symbolism of the poppy to the children.

He said: '˜We wanted to raise the profile of the poppy, especially with it being 100 years since the end of the First World War.

'˜We wanted the children to fully understand why we wear the poppy and that is to remember those who have died.'
