Recruiters Rafferty Resourcing are finding staff for schools in the area, as well as helping pupils discover the right career path for them.

Martyn Rafferty worked in schools for more than 20 years, alongside supporting Jodie, his wife, who set up and ran Rafferty Resourcing. Martyn is now working with a team of recruiters – who dub themselves The Rebels because they work in a straightforward, client-centred way which is different from the average recruitment firm.

He specialised in working with the behaviour and enrichment of pupils and is now using his experience and knowledge to find the best staff out there.

He said: “As Rafferty Resourcing began to grow I realised I had to give the company more support so I moved there full-time in September. But after working with young people for more than 20 years I couldn’t just spend the rest of my career sitting behind a desk.

“I still have contact with a lot of schools in the area and was helping out at one, teaching fishing to some pupils, when the head mentioned they were struggling to find some specialist teachers.”

That encounter led to the birth of Rafferty Education and took the team of rebels back to the classroom.

He said: “I can help, I know the schools, the kids, what is needed for whatever role – the important thing is getting the right member of staff for the right school because all schools have different needs.”

Martyn’s wife, Jodie, who founded Rafferty Resourcing, said word of mouth had already gotten around and other schools have become clients.

She added: “Everyone is really happy he is using his new career with his old one. People trust him because he is well-known and liked in Waterlooville and schools are already emailing and phoning us.”

The team also works with pupils to improve their CVs, guide them into jobs they would be suitable for, and liaise with their parents. Jodie said: “Our door is always open and the kettle is always on – you don’t need an appointment, just give us a call and we can help.”

Paul Foxley, head teacher at Purbrook Park, said: “Martyn’s great energy, and commitment, to supporting young people was evident throughout his time at Purbrook Park School. Loved and respected by pupils and staff alike, Martyn helped so many of our pupils to find success, both personally and academically.”

Whether it be teachers, senior leadership or support staff, Martyn knows the roles within a school setting so he can find the perfect candidate. Please get in touch for a chat about how Rafferty Resourcing can help with your search for amazing staff
