Employees and residents of Dolphin Homes, which cater for adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex health needs, got to their feet to dance and clap along to Happy by Pharrell Williams in a show of solidarity amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

All 280 staff members, including those from the Havant, Bedhampton and Horndean homes, want the cheer to spread and are inviting others to create their own videos as well as asking people to remember all key workers during the 8pm clap for carers on Thursday evenings.

Referrals manager for Dolphin Homes, Aaron Comley, explained why it was important to 'make the best of a bad situation.'

The 36-year-old from Havant said: 'It's to show we are a united force as a care sector. We can all pull together and appreciate the work everyone's doing.

'This is the time to collaborate. Let's get together as a nation and share the good work we do.

'It was amazing the feedback we have already had from this video, my phone was going off all last night until 2am with notifications. Now let's keep that momentum going, we want to see as many people as possible joining in.'

He added: 'There have been changes around here since the pandemic. Residents can no longer go out to day services so our carers are having to get creative and bring the activities in to them.

'We also know how difficult it is to get hold of essential items, luckily we have a good stock from before lockdown, but I know other places are struggling.'
