Hampshire hospital warns patients after tuberculosis case

A Hampshire hospital is offering free screenings to patients and staff after a patient was diagnosed with tuberculosis.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has written to patients to reassure them that the risk of transmission at Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester is low.

In the letter the trust said ‘as a precaution and to be absolutely safe and certain we are contacting those patients and staff who may have had contact with the patient to offer them screening.’

The letter added that infection protection experts are working closely with Public Health England.
