Peter Halkyard, from the Hayling Island community first responders, welcomed the installation of the defibrillator.

He said: '˜Without rapid and appropriate treatment, cardiac arrest can result in death.

'˜However, with the use of CPR and a defibrillator, the chance of survival can be increased.

'˜We sincerely hope that no one in the area finds themselves in this situation, however with the installation of this life-saving equipment on the outside of the Gorseway Nursery School, we are equipped should the worst happen.'
