Patients invited to nominate hospital staff for NHS Trust’s People's Choice Award
Nominate hospital staff who made a difference
The spotlight is being shone on hospital staff who have made a notable difference to patient care.
Patients, families and members of the public have the opportunity to say thank you to hospital staff who made a difference to their care by nominating them for Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust’s 2027 People’s Choice Award.
Part of the Trust’s Delivering Excellence Awards, the People’s Choice Award recognises an individual or team who have provided outstanding care or made a real difference to someone’s experience of using Trust Services.
Nominations are now open and are due to close on Friday, December 11, 2026.
Paul Hargreaves, chief people and culture officer said “Our staff give me so many reasons to be proud, from the expertise they bring to their work, to the kindness and reassurance they offer patients and families when it matters most.
“We want to give the public the opportunity to help us celebrate that great care. If an individual or team has made a difference to you or someone close to you, please put them forward for the People’s Choice Award. Your nomination is a chance to say thank you and help us recognise the people behind your care.”
Emergency department nurse, Charlotte Gibson, won the 2026 People’s Choice Award after being shortlisted alongside two other members of staff. She was nominated for the compassion, professionalism and care she showed a seriously unwell patient who had recently been discharged from another hospital.
Her nominator described how Charlotte’s continual reassurance and clear communication helped the patient and a worried relative feel informed and supported throughout their time in the department.
