As the number of people experiencing mental health problems continues to rise, local charity Solent Mind has remodelled its team and services in Portsmouth to make it easier for local residents who are facing their own difficulties to get the support they need.

Adults living in Portsmouth who are finding life difficult can now get eight different types of support from Solent Mind online, over the phone or in-person at its local Wellbeing Centre, PositiveMinds, located on Melbourne Place, Southsea.

Solent Mind’s services in Portsmouth include Portsmouth Wellbeing and Peer Support – a unique service offering peer support for adults who are finding life unmanageable – and Solent Recovery College – where people can learn practical skills for living with ongoing symptoms and how to get the best from mental health services.

Other services include emotional wellbeing support for families of serving personnel, employment guidance to help people find new opportunities and thrive in the workplace, and support and advice for those living with dementia and their carers or family members.

Not forgetting, Solent Mind’s Self-harm Support Hub: a dedicated space for anyone who is supporting young people who self-harm.

There is a self-referral option available for most of Solent Mind’s services, which the charity has recently made even more accessible with the introduction of an online referral form. This is in addition to options to self-refer over the phone or in-person.

Solent Mind is encouraging anyone living in Portsmouth who is feeling low, worried or hopeless to get in touch to learn more about how the charity can help with managing their mental health and Wellbeing
