St Mary’s NHS Treatment Centre in Fratton has changed its name to Practice Plus Group Surgical Centre St Mary’s after Care UK, which runs the centre, divided into two separate organisations.

The team and NHS services provided will remain the same.

Penny Daniels, who continues as the centre’s hospital director, said: ‘The new name reflects the levels of surgery we carry out at the centre including eye surgery, hand, wrist, foot and ankle surgery, ear, nose and throat assessment, and gastroenterology.

‘We are also maintaining our highly accredited diagnostic imaging service at the centre in Fratton and at our Havant service. Our NHS walk-in Urgent Treatment Centre is also carrying on as usual, supporting our community every day, including Christmas Day.’

Signs for the centre is due to be in place soon.

In addition to its NHS services, Practice Plus Group is also now able to offer self-pay and insurance- backed treatments and surgeries.

Penny added: ‘While the vast majority of our work will remain NHS, we have devised an affordable self-pay service that is around one-third less the price of private hospitals.

‘It is aimed at those people who decide that they want treatment faster than the current NHS waiting times.

‘They may be self-employed people who need to get back to work, those who need to care for loved ones or those who just want to get on and enjoy their retirements pain-free.

‘Whatever your need, be it NHS, self-pay or insured, I can guarantee that, although the name has changed, the friendly faces and high levels of care remain the same.’
