Facebook had the power of love for this Portsmouth couple

'˜He would do anything for me. He would pick me up and run to the hospital if he had to - I am so grateful for him,' she sighs.

Reminiscing and laughing Lisa, nee Bevis, describes her new husband and explains how she first met her Prince Charming Tim Waterson when they were 16-years-old.

'˜We first met when we were working at Homebase together,' laughs Lisa, '˜but we lost touch.'

Lisa was born in Portsmouth and Tim, born in Germany, lives and works in the city as a quantity surveyor. And while they were living separate lives, their paths eventually crossed again with the help of the internet.

Three years ago Lisa, who works at Next, found out she had a tumour growing on her shoulder. And while it seemed like the world was against her at times, the powers of social media reunited these childhood friends.

'˜We started chatting on Facebook and he offered me lifts to the hospital - that's how it started really,' she explains.

From that point onwards, the couple from Copnor had a whirlwind romance. They just clicked together, says Lisa, so it wasn't long before Tim was down on one knee and the 39-year-olds were engaged.

'˜Our engagement wasn't that romantic though,' says Lisa, '˜it was just after my shoulder operation to remove the tumour.

'˜We had only been dating for four months, so it happened quickly. But my dad was happy,' she laughs.

On the lead up to their autumn wedding at Old Thorns Hotel, Liphook, Lisa insists she was calm.

'˜It was an absolutely fantastic day. My bridesmaids were great and helped me.

'˜But if I'm honest, I was fine before the ceremony - not really that nervous at all,' she explains.

'˜I think the only glitch in the wedding was that all of my bridesmaids got stuck in the lift,' laughs Lisa, '˜but they arrived eventually and the whole day was fantastic.'

The wedding celebrations didn't stop there as it wasn't long before the newlyweds flew to the Caribbean island of Jamaica for their honeymoon.

'˜It was so nice to relax. A perfect end to our celebrations,' adds Lisa.
