Over a hundred people queue up for a free burger as SoBe Burger opens in Portsmouth

A huge queue of people lined up along Commercial Road to be in with the chance of getting a free burger at the opening of new restaurant SoBe Burger.
The first 100 customers in the queue received a free burger. For those who missed out on the freebie, SoBe Burger also offered 50% off their entire menu, which will run until September 14.
The grand opening at 4pm on September 10 featured music from DJ Carmen at the restaurant, as well as a prize wheel giving people chances to win more freebies and goodies.
Ryan Goddard was the first customer in the queue, and had been waiting outside SoBe Burger for two hours to get his free meal.
“I do love a good burger and it smells amazing already so I am really really looking forward to it,” Ryan said while he queued.
“It will be worth the wait!”
Baleena Mattu, owner of the new restaurant, said: “I am really excited to have SoBe in Portsmouth.”
“It’s absolutely manic here and its amazing, everyone have been lovely, the vibe is amazing,” she said.
Smash burger restaurant SoBe Burger was launched in 2019 and has over 19 locations across the country. They recently made the finals of the National Burger Awards with their Double Bacon Black Garlic burger.
The menu also features chicken burgers as well as vegan options.
The Portsmouth location will open daily from 11am to 10pm, with delivery available via Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Just Eat.
